Our annual “Payback” camp was held on 7th-8th October at Boyd field campsite. We use Boyd on many meeting nights and do so for free, so to ‘Payback’ we hold a camp and do jobs around the campsite.
12 Beavers, 13 Cubs and 10 Scouts toasted marshmallows, escaped from prison and camped overnight, and our 3 explorers camped overnight in hammocks!
This year our main task was clearing the somewhat overgrown banks of the lake. With over 35 young people camping, 8 leaders then joined by over 20 parents on the Saturday, we made short work of the mammoth task! Marred slightly by some spells of rain, everyone battled through and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Thank you to everyone who helped, it showed what fantastic support our group has from our parents.
Of course a special thank you to our leaders Kathy, Steve, Hayley, Sian, Cressy, Maggie, Karen and Tony for their hard work making the camp run smoothly and giving the kids a great experience.
